H+P at the Oktoberfest Run

The team had an amazing time at the Oktoberfet 5 and 10K  With over 20 athletes running for the team, it was great having each other there for support and to help chase some PB's.

The individual results will come soon (and the number of personal bests was just silly), but here is how we did as a team:

Some of the H+P Oktoberfest team post-race

The 5K team ended up with an average time of 18:51, coming in first place!  CLICK for results.

The 10K team had an average time of 38:39, also coming in first place! CLICK for results.

On a side note, it is also great to see our top H+P female runners rounding out the top 3 and scoring points for both of our teams.  Coach Gill placed 3rd in the 5K for us, running 20:11, and Val placed 3rd in the 10K for us, running 40:48 (both personal bests).  Great work girls!

H+P at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

We had 3 H+P runners with gutsy efforts at the STWM..here they are:

First up, Jeremy Tracey had an excellent result in his second marathon.  While he wanted more from his race, he did manage to take over 80 minutes (yes 80!) from his time from last year, coming in with a time of 4:06.  He also comfortably PB'd en route in the half marathon- a PB he just achieved in May of this year.  Congrats!

Mike Piazza had an awesome performance, coming in with a huge personal best of 3:08, achieving his goal of going sub- 3:10.  He also managed to place in the top 30 in a very competitive AG.  Great work Mike!

Finally, a HUGE congrats goes to Susan Ludwig.  She was part of our beginner run group last year.  When we first started, she struggled with running for 1 minute, and walking for five.  With a year of hard training, she managed to work up to running the marathon yesterday in a very respectable time.  On top of this, Susan was inspired to race in order to raise money for Lupus research- a cause very close to her heart.  In the end, she doubled her original goal, raising over $1000.  Congrats Susan!

H+P at Run for the Toad

Just one race for the team this weekend- The Run for the Toad.

25K Results
50K Results

Here's how the team did:

Graham Dunn had great 50K, throwing down 4 consistent loops to help him finish in 4:40, placing 32nd overall and 7th in his AG.

Dave Rutherford came into the race without really preparing, and just planning on having fun and seeing what happens.  Despite not having the proper preparation, he still managed to run over 43K (only stopping when it was no longer enjoyable) and put in 3 speedy loops in around the hour mark.

In the 25K, Gill wanted to test her abilities to run 5mins/K pace on tougher-than-normal terrain.  WELL, she did just that: putting two loops together in 1:02, averaging exactly 5mins/K.  This was good enough for 4th in her AG!

Craig also competed in the 25K.  He posted two loops in under 1 hour, bringing it home in 1:56 and 6th place in his AG!

Linda had a great 1st Toad- she came in under 2:30, and placed 9th in her AG- nice job!

Results: last weekend of September

This is starting to become the NORM- another weekend, another collection of PB's.  Here are the results:

Jeremy Tracey had an amazing peformance at the Laurier Loop.  Despite being in the middle of some very hard weeks for his marathon training, he managed to take over a minute off his 10K personal best, posting a time of 45:56, placing 12th overall and placing 1st in his category.

Nolan Tracey performed extremely well in the 5K, beating 100's of full grown adults, posting a time of 26 minutes.  Visit: www.runwaterloo.com for full results and a race recap.

At the ABC festival, Jordan Schmidt crushed the 5K with a new personal best of 17:06!!  This is almost a 1.5 minute improvement over the last 12 months.  This brought him to the finish in 2nd place overall.

At the VASA trail run, Sue and Liz both had awesome races.  Sue placed 3rd in her AG, and Liz took the win in hers!  Great work girls!

This was the weekend of half marathons for H+P!  Here are the results:

Jordan Schmidt hammered the half at Run for the Grapes.  He came in at well under 1:24 (a new personal best), placing 8th overall and 2nd in his AG!  RESULTS.

There were three amazing performances at the Oakville 1/2 marathon (CLICK for results):
- Mike Piazza ran 1:26:07, good enough for 4th in his AG and a new personal best!
- Aaron Mailman came back from surgery to run a very solid 1:27 (his 1st half, so a PB!)
- Val had an awesome race, running 1:29, good enough for 5th place OVERALL (and a new PB)!

Natalie had a great race the Island Girl half marathon.  Despite being sick all week, Natalie still managed to come within 1 minute of her personal best!  Click here for the results.

On the XC front, H+P TT record holder, Brendan Hancock, had an excellent performance at the Fanshawe Open in London.  He ran a blistering 8K, well under 30 minutes on a very tough course, placing him in the top 20 of a stacked field.  RESULTS.

H+P Racing: Sept 14th and 15, 2013

Here is the results round-up for the weekend of Sept 14th-15th, 2013:

Kristin on top of the podium at Bracebridge in 2012

A HUGE congratulations goes out to Kristin Marchant for her performance and the Triathlon World Championships.  She trained with us in 2011 and 2012- and is still the Summer TT record holder.  Despite battling chronic, recurrent running injuries, and getting sick the day before the race Kristin still managed to walk away as the WORLD CHAMPION for women aged 20-24 in the Olympic distance tri.  Most impressively, she won the race by about 2 minutes, including running a 36:11 10K off the bike.  Click here to see the full results.

On the highschool racing front, we have to recognize Nicole Shrigley's performance in what was supposed to be a 3K "fun run."  Going in with the plans of taking it easy, Nicole quickly got caught up in the competitive spirit on the day, and ran 12:48 on a windy and hilly course- a 21s PB!

In the cycling world, Vance continues to display excellent consistency despite his lengthy season.  He raced into a top-100 performance at the Centurion C50 in Collingwood- a race we will be targeting as a team for next year!  CLICK HERE for the full results.

Finally, a huge congrats goes out to mountain man himself, Craig Kingston.  He had a great performance at the 5Peaks Heart Lake 14.4K.  He ended up averaging well under 5mins/K on a very technical course, good enough for 5th in his AG.  CLICK for full results.

H+P Early Sept Racing

The summer is coming to an end, but H+P is still out there, crushing race courses.  Here are some recent results:

Luke Eghoetz had an amazing race at the 2013 1/2 Ironman World Championships.  He averaged over 35hm/h on the bike, ran just over 1:30 for the half marathon, and managed to place inside the top 40 for his AG.  Click here for the results.

Sue and Liz both had awesome performances in the Wasaga Beech Sprint Duathlon.  It was their first time ever doing a multisport event- Liz even manged to place 3rd in her AG!  Results.

Erik had a great showing at the half-Ironman in Muskoka.  Coming of injuries from his Ironman, Erik still went out and had fun, placing in the top 50 in his AG!  Results.

Vance, despite a busy summer of racing, was back at it- this time in Montreal for the Duathlon National Championships.  He tore up the course, placing top 10 in his AG.  Results.

Adam and Kev had one last showdown for the year at the Hy-Vee Olympic National Triathlon Championships (for USA).  Adam did take the win, but Kev unfortunately suffered a flat on the course.  He did finish the race on a positive note though with a sub-42 10K.  Results.
